We installed a bespoke aluminium curtain walling system to selected areas of the development, ideal for a contemporary rural scheme. Curtain walling is an external façade system, made up of glass panels and aluminium frames. It’s great for added natural light and really gives your home a statement look.
The thermally broken aluminium frames and high-spec glazing helped regulate internal temperatures throughout the year. It also created a strong visual connection between inside living spaces and the wider Holme Valley views, which was a key design priority for the developer. Who can blame them after all, what a beautiful location!
For the entrance doors, we supplied and installed powder-coated aluminium systems finished in Agate Grey with satin chrome letterplates and boxes. Aluminium was chosen for its strength, low maintenance requirements, long-term durability and 100% recyclability, which is particularly important in exposed rural settings.
The Agate Grey finish worked well against the natural sandstone, surrounding stone wall and traditional materials used across the site. It offered a subtle, modern contrast without disrupting the heritage feel of the development. Each door also benefits from PAS 24 compliant security features and thermally broken profiles for improved energy performance.
We installed a number of aluminium bifold doors across the development using the Cortizo 120 bifold doors system. These doors were selected for their slim sightlines and smooth operation, allowing homeowners to fully open up their living spaces to the surrounding countryside.
Bifold doors operate on a concertina system, folding neatly to one side to create a wide, uninterrupted opening. This was especially valuable at Seventy Acre Farm where uninterrupted valley views were a key selling point. On a clear summer day, the new residents can completely eliminate a wall, great for enjoying a film on the sofa with a fresh breeze, birdwatching with your morning coffee and quickly getting the washing in.
The Agate Grey finish was used throughout to maintain visual consistency with the rest of the glazing package while complementing the rural setting.
We also supplied aluminium French doors across several plots, including as primary external access in some homes. These doors open centrally on a hinged system, creating a wide and welcoming opening to outdoor spaces.
Seventy Acre Farm has a traditional feel, which is why French doors are perfect. They’ve been used across Europe for centuries, and remain loved today, adding a romantic feel to any environment. Modern benefits include the slim aluminium frames, ability to open up your home to nature, and their durability.
As with all our aluminium products, leading thermal performance is guaranteed.
The development also features Cortizo 4700 sliding doors, selected for their balance of slim sightlines, performance and cost efficiency. These sliding systems allow large glass panels to move smoothly along stainless steel tracks, creating wide openings without taking up internal or external space.
When it comes to the thermal performance, you can expect U-values as low as approximately 1.2 W/m²K (the lower the better, U-Values essentially describe how a glazing product keeps the heat inside your home).
We installed a combination of fixed and tilt and turn windows using the AluK tilt and turn windows system. Fixed panes were used to maximise light and views, while tilt and turn units provided flexible ventilation and easy cleaning access.
You may have come across tilt and turn windows before, most likely in either a European flat or high-rise/hotel in this country. They’re really good for safety, as you can tilt them inwards without opening them fully for secure ventilation (especially valuable if you have young children to keep safe). They’re also easy to clean, as by cranking the handle a little further, the whole pane can swing inwards.
The thermally broken aluminium profiles and high-performance glazing help maintain comfort levels throughout the year while supporting strong energy efficiency.
Seventy Acre Farm is a project we are proud to have delivered in collaboration with the developer and wider project team. From curtain walling through to doors and windows, every element was carefully specified to balance modern performance with the rural character of the site.
As a contractor, we manage everything in-house, including survey, manufacturing and installation from our Yorkshire facility. This allows us to maintain quality control and manage lead times effectively, which is vital on large-scale developments such as this one.
We are Certass and CPA accredited, and every installation is backed by a 10-year guarantee for added peace of mind. If you are planning a commercial or mixed development and require a reliable aluminium glazing partner, we would be happy to help.
